Some of you expressed concern for Virgil due to the last scene I posted. At the time that was pretty much all I had written of that scene. I finished it in the early hours of this morning, many thanks to @scribbles97 for interrupting her food preparation to answer my desperate squawk of ‘does ths work?????’ I mentioned in the comments of that post that Virg was in good hands. I feel I have gained a repuation (deservedly) because that apparently sounded ominous. There had been no sleep. The ceiling tiles had morphed into a maze of torture, his eyes sketching and re-sketching out shapes made by the holes and the squares, annoying him to no end. He wanted Kay. He wanted to hold her, to make sure she was alright, to reassure her that he was quitting IR, that he had chosen her. But he was also scared. International Rescue had been everything for so long. Sure there was plenty of other stuff he could do, but could he watch his brothers go out, leaving him behind? It hadn’t been easy saying those words to Scott, but it was going to be even harder to enact them. And there was pain, no matter what medication they put him on. He could feel the fog clogging his mind, yet breathing still hurt. Perhaps he should ask for something stronger, something that could finally knock him out and end the pain on all fronts. By the time the sun peeked over the horizon and lit up edges of the window, he was ready to take anything to make it all go away.

Dressed head to toe in a sleek grey suit, blue tie and his hair so soaked in product, the wind didn’t have a chance, Scott was the point of an arrowhead of Tracys. Virgil walked on his right, John on his left, and Gordon and Alan behind them respectively. None of them had a smile on their faces, and all were similarly dressed, broad shoulders and expensive fabrics. One of the rare occasions that shouted the power they wielded and the money they owned. Kayo strode ahead of them, similarly attired, but that didn’t stop her from asserting her security muscle as needed to move the press out of their path. ::cackles madly:: ::bounces some more:: I”m so spoilt! He couldn’t let her go. She had done something to him. Whether she was smiling or calling him on his shit, there was something in her voice, in her face, in her…that he needed. Something he had to have. The thought of losing her hurt.

My brain again… Okay, obviously I am living and breathing my writing at the moment far too much, because I just dreamed (yes, only dreamed) that I received a complaint for writing more Scott than Virgil. This dream complainant claimed that I have been writing this mammoth story for ages and they were missing my regular non-ship Virg stories. Incidentally, this dream person had a username I had never seen before, so I basically told them (or wanted to, but was more polite), that the fact that the first I had heard of them was this complaint about my writing, so basically they could go jump. If they wanted to contribute to this party, I’m obviously open to positive influencers ::eyes all my inspirators:: Jump in and play. So yeah, apart from me obviously needing to get out more, or get better sleep, I did wake up wondering exactly how long I’ve been writing this fic. I started on 14 Jan and my current word count is over 37,000 words. This is my second longest fic ever, and the longest I have written in this fandom. Nutty Day Today is Nutty Day. I hereby declare it, because I can. The day after Gordon’s and six months before Virgil’s. Today is the day to leap off the metaphorical edge and test those wings. A revelation Did this happen every time they went out? Was death always this close? Would she have to sit here and watch Scott risk his life day after day? The future stretched out before her in a roadmap of pain. And it hurt. His blue eyes glanced in her direction, caught her stare and frowned. “Em?” She bit her lip and realised she loved him. A blink and a wave of fear. She hardly knew him, yet… “Are you okay?” Bloody hell. She found her voice. “I’m…I’m fine. I want to see Virgil as soon as he gets back.” “You will. cttagverse: This popped into my head because of something @gumnut-logic said about a prompt she had found–the boys being older and reflecting on their past and IR. I had gone to bed last night, but was unable to sleep because it was running through my head so I got up and wrote it. As such, I am completely blaming Nutty for me not getting to sleep until late XP Virgil was sitting in a chair next to the window. It was his favorite place to sit when it was too chilly to sit outside. Of course the cold seemed to get to him easier than it had in the past—who would have thought he’d have issues with the temperature on a tropical island? The island had been their father’s when they had finally convinced him to retire. They had hired a live in nurse to help him when they had noticed him start to struggle with mundane things. He argued for a year after she had arrived, but they thought he had become quite smitten with her after a while—though he would never admit it, his heart always and forever belonged to their mother.
